FOR TODAY ~ Friday 13th April 2012
Outside my window...It's completely black! No I'm not wearing sunglasses or temporarily lost my eyesight...it's actually late at night. I usually write this post first thing on a Wednesday morning, but this week I have my sister-in-law visiting so I'm limited with my blogging time. She's suffering with jet lag unfortunately, but that does mean I can sneek a post in here and there.
I am thinking...how can I fit everything into my day. With my SIL here I'm trying to be the hostess with the mostess, the usual busy bee day chores, reading a list of books I can't wait to get to, drawing and painting to ensure my mojo doesn't go AWOL again, cooking and baking the odd treat, pottering in the garden, shopping, yadder yadder yadder....(you know how the list goes....)
I am thankful...that I have you all out there...I love this crazy little blog thing. It never ceases to amaze me just how much pleasure it brings me. I get so excited when I see a new followers, or have a comment waiting...silly giggly excited...(there I confessed to it).
In the kitchen...bits and pieces of chocolate surprisingly left over from Easter...they won't last long though.
I am wearing...New trackie black bottoms, a black t-shirt, a grey cable cosy jumper and Ugg slippers. It gets a little chilly here once the sun goes down. Well it is autumn.
I am creating...very little unfortunately this week but I'm itching to get back to drawing soon. I'm constantly thinking up new designs which is great...my mojo is obviously still on track. ;D
I am going...to the Comedy Festival which should be fun ~ quite literally. I'm not sure which shows we'll see but we'll decide tomorrow.
I am wondering...How I can help my SIL get over her jet lag. We've tried many of the remedies suggested out there but she has difficulty sleeping normally so with travelling 12,000 miles you can imagine she doesn't know what her body clock is telling her.
I am reading... I apologies that it's still 'The Dovekeepers' ~ I only get a chance to read it last thing at night. I'm really enjoying it but I know my limited time isn't doing the book justice.
A few of the girls from my book club have read this amazing book already and are euphoric when talking about it. One of the girls is a prolific reader but couldn't read another book straight after finishing this one...she said she needed time to appreciate fully what a magnificent piece of literature she had just read. Reading quite a few reviews I think I'm in quite a wonderful read.

About the Author:
I am hoping...that the warmer spell of weather will last for a few more weeks. When someone visits Australia they expect it to be hot, sunny and dry which isn't the case all year round. It can come as a shock when its chilly!
I am looking forward to...seeing more interesting places and being a tourist over the next few weeks.
Around the house...the guest room is occupied. A few chocolate eggs are still surprisingly here. But mostly everywhere is tidy.
A favourite quote for today...Happiness always looks small while you hold it in your hands, but let it go, and you learn at once how big and precious it is ~ Maxim Gorky
One of my favourite things...satellite navigation or Sat Nav. It's helped me so much in a new location finding places I'd struggle to find. It is especially brilliant at making a female feel safe and confident if travelling alone. If you haven't got one, then I strongly suggest that you do treat yourself to this wonderful tool.
I've driven to book club meetings at night, to area's that where unknown to me, but arrived without a hitch.
Obviously men don't need them because they always know where they're going!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Work, rest and play but not necessarily in that order : D
A peek into my day... well a peek into yesterday actually....We went into the city and one of the places that I wanted my SIL to see and taste was the Hopetoun Tea Rooms for afternoon tea...established since 1892. This picture shows the window display...not bad eh? So many cakes...so little time!
Such a genteel way to spend a few hours.
So that's it for this week; I hope you enjoyed your visit. Don't forget to pop over to The Simple Womans Daybook and check out the other day book entries

Have fun : D
have a wonderful visit with family, I have no idea how to help jet lag but I hope it goes away soon!
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie,
DeleteWell we've researched online and basically no caffine or alcohol may help...pity really because Melbourne is very into their coffee culture and who doesn't like a tipple whilst on holiday?
Hopefully as each day passes it gets less and less.
Sorry I haven't been over to visit lately but I will once everything gets back to normal.
Have a lovely weekend xoxo
Australia and Scotland are both on my list of countries I want to visit one day.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your daybook today.
Thanks Rose...I'm happy that you enjoyed your visit.
DeleteThe daybook makes me really stop and think about things that I wouldn't normally think about. It's all about the 'now'
Have a wonderful weekend :D
Loved your daybook as always. I hope that you enjoy your SIL's visit. I know you will. I enjoy having company as well, but it's always nice when I have my house back to myself too and the routine goes back to normal. I'm afraid I am becoming very much a creature of habit! Love and hugs! xxoo
ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate that she's been the primary carer for ageing parents and still receiving calls which is making a refreshing break difficult.
DeleteI'm trying to spoil her and make her visit as pleasant as possible.
I can agree with your comments though and have a list of things I'm looking forward to getting back to.
Meanwhile I'll enjoy being a tourist and seeing new places and experiencing new things. There's still so much I haven't done.
Have a wonderful weekend and hopefully I'll be able to visit you soon. xoxo
I LOOOOOOOOVED the H/T/Tea room - when Hubby and I visited Melbourne I made him take me there everyday! Not that he complained! :-)
ReplyDeleteIts really special isn't it...we really enjoy indulging there and thankfully its handy to visit frequently ;D
DeleteThanks for popping over to visit ~ I'm limited with my time at the moment but I'll be back
Enjoy your weekend :D
