A Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY ~ Friday 7th September 2012

Outside my window...Ping! I woke at 5am this morning for whatever reason and thought about my daybook ...I decided that due to the lack of light I wouldn't peek out of my bedroom window at this unearthly time...I'd stay cosy and comfy until a reasonable hour!
So now a few hours later the blinds are up and the day breaks....it's very still this morning but I think everything needs to rest after two days of 120km/hr winds. The trees are worn out from all their dancing and there seems to be calmness once again...there are twigs and leaves scattered everywhere. A branch fell off the fir tree in our garden and even tried to call yesterday...knocking at the front door wanting to come in. I'll pop it into an arrangement maybe later today. ;D
I can't see or hear any birds at the moment which is unusual but then my laptop is whirring away charging up or doing its thing (whatever that might be?). Plus Mufftypup is still snoozing away making incredibly unladylike snoring sounds for one so cute and small!
I can see a patchwork pale blue sky peeking behind grey, white and bluish tinged clouds...there's a hint that rain may make an appearance at some stage today. Unfortunately it feels like the temperature has dropped again!
Come on spring...let's get going....
I am thinking...I'm about to pop with excitement (maybe that has something to do with me waking at 5am?) because my daughter is coming here for a surprise holiday. We didn't think we'd see each other until the Christmas holidays...so this is a wonderful surprise for us all.
I can't wait https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1508618.gif WHOOHOO!

I am thankful... For the above....it's going to be wonderful to have all my chicks (all two of them) in the one nest at the same time. I'm always grateful for that!

In the kitchen...A pristine clean floor...I made sure that I did some cleaning before coming on here to play. Once I enter blog land I never know how long I'll be or for that matter where I'll be!
There's not a cake in sight...remember the days when I used to bake...I know it's been so long. Maybe I'll get to do something over the weekend? Take a peek at a chocolate and vanilla marble cake
that I posted a while back if you're looking for a recipe idea. It was really easy and very popular. Or the Chocolate and orange cake Yummy!
Hmm...I can see a common theme here...can you? I must be craving chocolate without even being aware of it! Good job I've a bar chilling in the fridge....must dash....;D
I am wearing...Never you mind...I'm still in my bed! https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1511769.gifWell I was when I wrote this....

I am creating...ideas for blog posts, drawings for cards and notelets plus collecting ideas for Christmas designs...so lots crammed into my little brain all waiting to get out!

I am going...I've a few appointments booked next week and I'd love to take a little time for some pampering but I'm living in the real world and I know I'll be lucky if I get to the hairdressers...just call me 'Rapunzel'!

I am wondering...what to do with boxes of old video's ~ namely Walt Disney classics. ( I'm aware that if you are under a certain age the term 'video' is something that you've probably never heard of...you may have to ask someone from a previous generation).
My hubby says they really don't need to carry on travelling with us but I can't face giving them away...there are so many wonderful hours of memories attached to them.

I'm reading...The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows.

Synopsis
January 1946: writer Juliet Ashton receives a letter from a stranger, a founding member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. And so begins a remarkable tale of the island of Guernsey during the German occupation, and of a society as extraordinary as its name.
The video link below (courtesy of Random House Inc)  gives a wonderful insight into the book...far better than I could do it justice. I'm so delighted with this book and I hope you will be...

I am hoping...get travel around Australia in the next few months and don't worry you'll be invited. So get ready...https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1508619.gif
I am looking forward to...warm sunny days when I can shed some winter layers...both of the clothing and flabby kind!

Around the house...there's now a spooked pooch...Mufftypup has woken with the arrival of the strong wind...I thought we'd finished with it but its just arrived back...it must have been having a lie in this mornign...Muffin is constantly making little gruffing noises at me, as if I can do something about it! I hate to tell her I'm only human and that's out of my jurisdiction! She's had so much fresh chicken over the last two days in my attempt to calm her...she's probably now working the system..."well if I keep gruffing I get chicken...perfect" ^..^ (gruff!) She's now curled up at my feet.
I've also the dining room table littered again...as I try to finish a drawing for tomorrow's Artist Play Room so I'll carry on with that once I'm finished here.

A favourite quote for today..."autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower". ~ Albert Camus. I thought this quote would be appropriate today as I enter spring (hopefully) and many others see the arrival of autumn/fall.
One of my favourite things...is waiting at the airport for my daughter to arrive. I can hardly contain myself!
A few plans for the rest of the week: Work, rest and play but not necessarily in that order : D
A peek into my day... I'm keeping to a spring theme today...https://secure.quebles.com/content/hotmail/emoticons/1508621.gifand nothing makes me feel more spring like or happier than to have a beautiful bunch of freesias! (I bought two ~ I just couldn't help myself)
And then their fragrance just sucked me in closer...
Ahh...the power of plants!

So that's it for this week; I hope you enjoyed your visit. Don't forget to pop over to The Simple Womans Daybook and check out the other day book entries
Have a fabulous week and hopefully the sun will shine wherever you are : D
