This week I've decided to show you a few old photographs from my time in Australia.
(The weather here hasn't been the best for taking photo's this week)
I made the decision mainly due to the fact that my brother and his family are over in Melbourne, Australia at the moment.
Seeing his photographs has reminded me of a trip we made traveling along the Great Ocean Road.
Seeing his photographs has reminded me of a trip we made traveling along the Great Ocean Road.
One of the places we stopped to visit was Erskine Falls ( aboriginal name Kitjarra Ngitj/Ngatanwarr) which is a magical waterfall, tucked away in the beautiful Great Otway National Park...just off the Great Ocean Road.
This is my daughter... she's not only into art, she also loves photography.
Does that remind you of anyone?
I remember that I just couldn't resist taking a shot of this sign.
I've never seen a sign like it before or since!
Erskine Falls is like stepping back in time to the Jurassic age.
There is quite a descent to reach the waterfall, but it is worth it..
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for popping into my world.
I hope I'll see you again soon
Wow that waterfall is just stunning - definitely worth the descent to reach it :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed Louise,
DeleteOn the day we visited it was drizzling slightly so it was very tropical. It would have been perfect for a scene in Jurassic Park!
Fascinating shots. I'm dying to do the Great Ocean Road one day. We have been to Perth several times (my wife's dad's family is there) and also to Sydney a couple of times but we have yet to investigate the middle of the country.
ReplyDeleteIf you do visit Tim, I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed.
DeleteI've also visited Perth on numerous occasions too plus Sydney. I loved them all, but I felt right at home in Melbourne.
I've never been but it looks beautiful, one day when I retire perhaps!
ReplyDeleteI can definitely recommend it.
DeleteThere's so much to see and although it is far to travel, it's one to tick off the bucket list for sure.
Ohhh gorgeous! Now this is my type of adventure! #MySundayPhoto @chicgeekdiary
ReplyDeleteMe too Jenna, but alas I'm back here now. It was a fabulous time living there. I'll just have to find lots of different adventures now.
DeleteThe Falls look absolutely stunning. It's a place I've never travelled to but one that's most certainly on my list. On day...!
ReplyDelete#SundayPhoto
Oh I really hope you get to go one day because I'm sure you'll love it. My brother has now ticked it off his list.
DeleteDon't you just love the warning signs--not only do you have to worry about slipping and falling (which you'd expect) but now you have to worry about snakes too.
ReplyDeleteIt was hilarious and the last thing I expected to find.
DeleteThe trail was tricky, but I must admit I hadn't thought of snakes until I saw that illustration on the post!
It looks so beautiful there Neesie, these are such beautiful photos, I especially like the fern one x
ReplyDeleteWell that's what I thought when I looked back at these old photos.
DeleteI thought others might like to see them, or if they had already then revisit them.
I've got one of an unfurling fern which I unfortunately didn't attach here. I thought it would be too many photos for the link.
What. Magical place, I'd love to visit Australia. Great shots, particularly the waterfall.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fantastic place Catie.
DeleteThe photo doesn't do justice to the waterfall really. It was quite a drop, but that doesn't come across in the photo.
What amazing place, my Lovely Lady, ans what wonderful photographs, as well !
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing them with us !
May your weekend be filled with love and joy
sending gentle hugs to you
Dany
It was my pleasure to share them Dany.
DeleteIt was a fabulous place and the memories of my time in Australia are very special.
It looks a beautiful place, the photos capture the beauty of it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
Thanks Darren, it's a pity that the waterfall photo doesn't really show the huge drop... it's the perspective's slightly off.
DeleteI was standing on a bridge, but if I'd have been at the base then it would have been better.
Maybe I'll have to go back and retake it? It's only 12,000 miles!
Aww what a stunning place. You also made my son's day with the signs photo. He loves signs so much and this one is different from the others that he would usually see from around here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
#mysundayphoto
Oh I wish I could find a signpost photo that I posted here on my blog sometime back from my trip to New Zealand. I'm sure your son would love it and wouldn't have another sign like it.
DeleteIf I find it I'll forward it on to you.
Oh wow, what a beautiful place, I love all the deep green colours. That last photo is absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteThe special flora and fauna of Australia makes it a very special place. I loved my time living there Toni.
DeleteI'm glad you liked your quick little tour.
That waterfall photo is a stunner :) #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteThanks Victoria, I was bothered about linking an old photograph, but thought they should see the light of day once more.
DeleteI'm happy that you liked it.
The waterfall is breath taking!
ReplyDeleteNot sure I like the "snake" sign though! hehe
Fab photos x
Hehe me neither Jayne. I hadn't given snakes a second thought until I saw that sign. I wish the photo came with sound as the water crashed onto the rocks below. It was quite high although the photo doesn't really show that.
DeleteWhat gorgeous photos ... such treasures of your trip. LOVE the sign ... only in OZ! The Great Ocean Road is a spectacular journey in itself -- unfortunately I didn't get to see this beautiful park. Thanks for sharing. hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed Donna and that's why I wanted to show some of them once more. I've got so many fabulous photos from my time living in Australia and our holidays in both the North and South island of New Zealand.
DeleteHaving my brother over there at the moment has made memories come flooding back.
It was my pleasure to share and I'm happy that you enjoyed seeing them.
Beautiful pictures, the colours and scenery are amazing
ReplyDelete#mysundayphoto
Oh I have masses of photos like these Elena and that's why I decided to add them to the link. Give a few an airing!
DeleteThere's lots fantastic scenery and interesting topics to photograph.
A photographers dream.
The Falls are enchanting! Love the warning signs....LOL. A beautiful place to hike leaving beautiful memories. Huhs
ReplyDeleteI thought the sign would give everyone a wee chuckle Nan,
DeleteIt was a fabulous place to walk although most of it was down the ravine and back up again. Very well worth it though.
Fabulous photo's and it looks like a wonderful place to visit #MySundayPhoto
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed... but then there are so many fabulous places.
DeleteA photographers dream
I love the warning signs.
ReplyDeleteMe too Jacq, it gave us a giggle, but then I realised there was a snake on it and I hadn't given that a thought. It was perfect conditions for them (gulp)
DeleteWow- this place is gorgeous. I've never been to Australia but would love to go. Especially now after seeing your beautiful photos. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteOh it's a fantastic place Erika, I think you'd love it if you went to visit. I had a fabulous time living there.
Deletethat looks gorgeous! and is one of those signs a falling trees onto a person?
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is Jennifer and something I hadn't thought about... along with the prospect of snakes.
DeleteIt was ideal conditions for them. Thankfully I never came across any.
I love the tree ferns - they look so exotic!
ReplyDeleteI do too and they were exotic. Some of the plant life looked like they'd been there since the Jurassic era.
DeleteIt was like stepping back in time... incredible
Neesie, those deep woods are calling out to me. Such a stunning place. Love the waterfalls too. Such a pretty sight inside the forest. Thank you for linking in with "Through My Lens"
ReplyDeleteMersad
Mersad Donko Photography
It was an incredible place to visit Mersad, just like going back to the Jurassic period. The waterfall was the icing on the cake and such a fantastic end to the long trek.
DeleteAll so beautiful and definitely worth a visit.
Thanks for hosting once again. Have a great week.
Margaret Adamson has left a new comment on your post "My Sunday Photo... Erskine Falls":
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful waterfall.
Apologies Margaret... my multi-tasking skills were obviously way off this morning. I pressed delete instead of publish whilst trying to eat my breakfast. Thanks for stopping by and I promise I'll be more careful in future.
DeleteThat sign is pretty intimidating! But all your photos are grand.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll join the party at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2016/03/spring-has-finally-sprung.html
They certainly made me think, but it was a fantastic trek with the wonderful waterfall as a bonus.
DeleteGreat series of photos of the that time!
ReplyDeleteThank you Magnus, it was a great day. Everyone enjoyed being so close to nature.
DeleteI would love to literally stand in that waterfall and let it cascade over me
ReplyDeleteIt would have been rather chilly but really refreshing.
DeleteIt was raining too so we were wet already. Even so it was a great trip.
Seems as a hazard trail :o But you made some really nice shots!
