This weekend we are staying with my daughter in Edinburgh.
We're being true typical tourists and wandering around the city stopping mid stride to take a snap, Obviously this is the done thing whilst stopping the flow of pedestrians.

Risking life and limb to get that shot!
I wouldn't say that I'm a techy person, but my hubby is still back in the 70's.
He's only just getting used to the Sat Nav in our car... which miraculously delivered us to my daughter's address without a hitch... and much to his amazement.
He's only just getting used to the Sat Nav in our car... which miraculously delivered us to my daughter's address without a hitch... and much to his amazement.
But he's been completely blown away with my daughter's reports from her phone telling us that we've walked over 8,000 steps today, and to finish him off she used Uber to take us home.
(If you're not familiar with any of the names above, then perhaps you might speak to someone in the younger generation... They'll roll their eyes probably, but you could just remind them that we taught them to use a spoon. That normally gets them)
There are lot's of photographs from today that I could have used for my Sunday Photo this week, but I thought I'd include a wee story.
There are lot's of photographs from today that I could have used for my Sunday Photo this week, but I thought I'd include a wee story.
It's the story of Greyfriars Bobby.
You can read the story from the notice board photo below.
Just click on the photo to enlarge.
'Mascara alert'... you may need tissues.
If you notice on the statue of Bobby, he has a shiny nose.
This is due to everyone touching his nose for good luck.
Of course I did, just in case... covering all my bases.
As usual I'm linking up with My Sunday Photo
and Through my lens
Thanks for visiting my place and I wish you a wonderful weekend and a funpacked week ahead.
What a sweet and loyal little dog, and I can see you are having a great visit.
ReplyDeleteThere were masses of tourists gathered around his statue and I had a wait a seriously long time to get this quick snap!
DeleteThere's so many great places to see, eat and drink, but with only having the weekend here it's a tough one for decision making.
One decision is definite... we'll have to come back
Hope you had a lovely time up there, what a great place to be, is your daughter at the university there?
ReplyDeleteWe are thanks. There's so much to see and do here...it's difficult to choose what to fit into a weekend. Decisions can be difficult, but one decision is definite... we'll be back.
DeleteOur daughter isn't in University here... she actually went to Aberdeen Uni (a few years back) She works here and is just 31.
I know I was a child bride!
Aww, such a sweet story. And what devotion!
ReplyDeleteI know Laurie, I've given Mufftypup twelve years of my devotion so far, so I'm going to have to have words with her.
DeleteI think the truth would be she'd move onto another family especially if they had chicken.
Sounds like a lovely trip! It's a sad story. I know about fitbit and uber thanks to my kids.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great quick getaway Christine, I just wish it had been a tad warmer. Spring seems to have forgotten us.
DeleteLovely photos! I remember my daughter telling me the story of Greyfriars Bobby when she was in y1 (she's in y5 now). I'd never heard it before, but thought it was beautiful. One day we will go to Edinburgh to see the statue!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and story. I can imagine that hubby's mind was blown that day. She should have topped it off by ordering good on her phone.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
I have been to Edinburgh but only once to do some family history and I did not see the statue - but I do know his story, albeit not the bit about stroking his nose for good luck.
ReplyDeleteThe story of Grey friers Bobby is heartbreaking! Gah! It gets me all a misty! I hope my own little dog would sit on my grave like Bobby! x
ReplyDeleteI cry easy to I will skip his story for today but the photo is so lovely! I will definitely go back later tonight when I can cry alobe by myself to read the story behind this sculpture. #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet story, and such a loyal dog. Lovely that they made a statue of him!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a lovely story and statue , isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely time in Edinburgh. We went a few years ago when I was pregnant and loved the city, although we didn't see this statue
ReplyDeleteAww wee Bobby :) It's great being a tourist in Edinburgh, there's always tons to see and do. I live not far away and I've still not seen everything there is to offer.

Ha Nessie you are priceless, I love the comment about the spoon! We have the opposite in our house, a husband with an Iphone 6 that does all his moves, a sat nav in his car and an Uber fan.... but we do still need the kids to press the right buttons for us otherwise we can get in a terrible pickle!
ReplyDeleteThe story and statue are gorgeous and sad... I'd be touching the shiny nose too!
Wren x
I keep meaning to go see that the rare times we are in Edinburgh, always forget to tho
ReplyDeleteI love Edinburgh so much, I can see how you must have done 8k steps so quickly. We're thinking of going at Easter!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful statue of this little dog.
ReplyDeleteLove this post! One of my fond memories from my visit to Edinburgh is visiting Greyfriars Bobby. A local walking his dog stopped to tell us the story in his wonderful Scottish brogue. I was enthralled!
