I know... here I am once again posting photo's of butterflies and bees.
But these may be the last we see of these beautiful summer visitors until next year.
So I want to indulge once more and appreciate them before they disappear.
Autumn is waiting in the wings and I fear that this warm spell may be our last for some time.

If you would like to encourage bees into your garden, then I strongly recommend that you plant Sedum plants into your borders.

I don't think I've ever seen so many bees on one flower head at the same time.
They were frantically gathering the nectar like it was the best bargain in town!
It was difficult to get a good shot because they were so busy... but I just wanted to capture how many there were. Obviously they like this particular plant and I remember that my sedums flowered right up to December last year.
If you look closely at this photo below you will see two bees and a butterfly.
I do love Autumn, but I don't want to rush into it... I want to make sure that summer is well and truly over first.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.
While I don't want to wish summer away, the cooler temperatures we have had here over the last couple of days have been something of a blessing. But it still feels to me like summer has barely started before it has ended, even though this year has been a better summer than most recent ones.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely were short changed on summer this year! It was wet, grey and foggy with just a few days of warm to tempt us and remind us that it was in fact summer. I love autumn but I shall be sad to see summer go.
DeleteIt really does feel like the last of summer now. Gorgeous photos, I love Peacock butterflies.
ReplyDeleteThey are stunningly beautiful butterflies aren't they.
DeleteWe have a good week ahead of us by the look of the Countryfile weather, but it surely can't last for many more weeks... can it?
I for one certainly wouldn't complain if it did!
The Sedum plants at the Eden Project were covered just the same! The first photo is my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe how many bees were on the plants Victoria... talk about bees around a honey pot! I think I like the peacock butterfly best too. It's certainly eye catching.
DeleteLove the first picture with that butterfly, just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brooke, it's a peacock butterfly and certainly catches the eye with so many fantastic colours and markings.
DeleteIt was definitely colder yesterday. I've had to bring out my slippers and was debating a blanket to sit under in the evening. Lovely butterfly photo
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely autumnal signs everywhere Emma, but I'm trying not to notice them just yet. We're having reasonable temperatures this week, so it's making it easier. Once it starts to grow chillier, then they'll be no denying it.
DeleteI've never left my slippers and I have been using a blanket at night for weeks. We've now started to use the wood burner, so we're nice a cosy in the evenings.
Beautiful captures, I love the colours in the butterflies wings
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up
I had other photos that I could have used for this week, but it may be the last time I can post butterflies and bees, so I couldn't resist.
DeleteI shall miss them when they leave us.
Beautiful photos, great detail
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol, it may be some time before I'm able to photograph them again. Autumn is rapidly approaching.
DeleteHi Neesie, lovely photos. There I was thinking bumble bees are on the decline, but it seems as though someone is hogging them all! Love the photo of what I think is a peacock butterfly. Lovely detail on the wings.

Hehe... Who knew! I've never seen so many gorgeous bees on one particular plant before. I'm sure there's more than last year.
DeleteThe first butterfly is a peacock, the second a red admiral.
We've only just started to see butterflies over the last few weeks. It's been too wet here, which gives you some indication of how wet our summer has been.
I don't want to rush into autumn either. I absolutely love summer and love to cling onto it.
ReplyDeleteI actually love autumn too, but I don't want summer to disappear until it's absolutely necessary. I think we might be luck next week as the weather forecast reports look favourable. Long may it last!
DeleteWonderful photos Denise ..
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
I'm glad you like them Sandy.
DeleteThe summer hasn't been the best here, so to see such wonderful sights I thought I needed to record them, before they disappear until next year.
Stunning pics today, Nessie! So glad you've got bumbles in your neck of the woods. omg! What a gorgeous butterfly in the first pic! I've never seen one with such coloring before! Our Fall made a brief appearance two weeks ago. Now back to summer....aahhh. I'm in no hurry for winter. We have three seasons here; Hot, Cold and Mild. :) have a wonderful Sunday. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThat butterfly is the peacock butterfly Nan, he's pretty stunning isn't he? We are actually having some of our best weather of all the summer... which is pretty ironic really when autumn is on it's way. I'm just glad that we've managed to feel some warmth before the shorter, chillier days arrive.
DeleteWhoa! Beautiful butterfly and bees in the same photo -- love it!
ReplyDeleteI know Deb I just couldn't help myself. Somewhat greedy eh?
DeleteI'm glad you liked them.
We had such a hot, wet, humid, sticky summer that I am extra glad to see the cool weather come in early this year. But the summer companions will be missed. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh have you Rita, I would have liked to share a little of that heat with you. Our's was a very wet, foggy grey summer with just the odd snippet of summery temperatures. I'm enjoying the last week or two of decent temperatures before autumn really does come in all it's glory. If I have some heat first then I'll be ready for it!
DeleteYou can never have too many bee and butterfly photos! The first picture in particular is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jade, that's exactly what I thought especially as they will leave us soon and it'll be next year before we see them again.
DeleteThe peacock butterfly is stunning isn't he? ;D
Lovely butterfly shots/
ReplyDeleteThanks Jacq, I was pleased with the results.
Deletethere were so many bees on the Sedum plant at the inaws, made for some nice photos :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how popular the Sedum's are with the butterflies and bees. It was a frenzy!
DeleteBeautiful photos! It is such a shame that the summer is just about over. I want it to last much longer x
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid summer has bid farewell Kim, but we are having a fabulous autumn so far. The sun is shining as I type even though it's a little chilly.
DeleteSuch lovely photos; that first one is an absolute stunner :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa, I think that one might be one of my favourites.
DeleteYou got beautiful butterflies there. We have lots of them too in my garden but my time always hinder my shooting, besides my camera is too slow for butterflies. I've posted most of them in previous older posts.
ReplyDeletePhotographing any kind of wildlife can be tricky Andrea and for every good photo I manage (by luck) to capture, I must have hundreds of failed attempts. It doesn't stop me continuing to try and capture them.
DeleteAll cute and fluffy! #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeletehehe Indeed pixiedusk,
DeleteSimply fabulous! Gorgeous... #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Lisa, I was pleased with the outcome of these shots I must say.
DeleteHi Neesie, what beautiful captures!
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of the peacock butterfly, so pretty.
We were certainly robbed of the Summer this year, although I am quite happy to welcome in the Autumn, I love this time of year :)
Thanks so much for joining in with #MMBC for the first time. I hope you can make it tomorrow too xx
I would agree with your comment with reference to our summer, but autumn is certainly making up for it! It's been a stunningly good start. Today the sun is shining and the sky is blue, although it is a little fresh in the breeze out of the sunlight.
