What's on Your Workdesk ~ WOYWW

Can you believe it's Wednesday? But it's all good here because I've been a busy bee...
I'm going to try and keep this post short after yesterday's long one, but we'll see.
This shot of my work desk is of the kitchen isle and not in the studio. The sun was shining right in, so it seemed the best spot to work. You see I'm like a sunflower that follows the sun :D

So no surprises ~ its zentangles still, but with a twist...see there's some colour! I didn't like the bird of paradise drawing, but couldn't work out why...until 4am one morning (don't ask) then I realised it was because I'd drawn it horizontal and not vertical. So what to do with the scrap one....have a play of course.
So I thought I'd give the colours an airing! What do you think?
I finished the vertical design (without colour) yesterday and have at least 5 other designs lined up :D

Thankfully, I think my mug is a little cleaner this week, but let me tell you I nearly picked up the paint water to drink so many times I lost count! I think I'll stick with tea in future....
See the Protea plant design on the right hand side? I'm really pleased with how that turned out.
What was I saying about keeping it brief? Hmm....
Thanks to everyone who visited my desk last week...I love to have visitors, so the kettle will be on for you as soon as WOYWW starts.

Well if you are wondering what I am going on about visiting desks, pop over to the lovely Julia and join in...there's so much talent out there, plus if you're a sticky beak nosey parker like me, then you'll love snooping around everyone's desk.
Have fun, smile and pass on some thoughtful act (make someone's day) :D

  2. LOVE these drawings and the one with colour!Drawing patterns is so satisfying. When the world/life seems at sixes and sevens, drawing restores a feeling of order and calm I think.

I'm not sure about the colour included in the design...so will continue to play. I like the black and white with the patterns.
I think my silk painting is best for getting my colour fix ;D
I know you and all the ladies of WOYWW know how it feels when you adore having some creative time to yourself....I'm just loving it!
Thanks for popping over Judy ~ have a great week :D

  3. These are stunning. I love the one with just a touch of colour and there is no way it is a scrap one!! Do you have any trouble with your pens. I have the same ones and they keep going dry, drives me nuts, as I have to have a break for a while and then they start again.
Gotta watch that paint water, I usually put my brush into my cup of tea and more than once that's for sure. I have learnt to put the cup on a different table now, much safer.
    Have a great week.

I'm afraid the bird of paradise draft is scrap! I used it to roll the nib of my pen to get rid of fluff or whatever comes onto the tip. Yep, the pens can drive you mad, but I have quite a few now and rotate them. I'm wondering if you can get coloured one's ~ do you know?
My local art suppliers say they don't have any, but I'm not even sure they're produced.
Having to take breaks isn't funny especially when your artistic juices are following...talking of which neither is a brush in your cuppa! Been there done that ;D
Enjoy WOYWW and have a great Wednesday.

  4. I recall taking a big gulp of some rather chalky water when last I tackled water colours! It's so meditative and relaxing one can be forgiven for losing track of time or place. I think some wildlife will look stunning in this approach.... your work is stunning and eye catching and vibrant! I look fwd to seeing more! I'm thinking of sharing some of my work desk too... thanks for the inspiration!

I'm forming the opinion that zentangles should be black and white only and I'll stick with silk painting for the colour.
I'm really loving spending time being creative but I'm getting a little worried as its growing beyond all I imagined. I just want to do drawing and nothing else!!! Eek :$
Sorry to hear you're not very smiley today...maybe a nice cuppa will help to cheer you up ;D

  22. Oh wow wow wow Neesie, I'm in AWE of your zentangles!! What an inspiration! I was just going to say a simple thank you for your nice comment on my blog about my zentangles, and glad you like them etc. but seeing your work, I extra-appreciate your comment because it comes from a Real Expert!!! I adore the dramatic colour on the Bird of Paradise... My darling hubby is giving me a set of Derwent Inktense pencils for my birthday at the end of this month, and I am so looking forward to trying them out, and adding some colour to my Zentangles! What I particularly like about your use of colour is that you don't colour the whole thing - much more impact that way. Wow again...
