What's on Your Workdesk ~ WOYWW

Wow...Wednesday nearly passed me by...but its been that kind of week AGAIN!
Firstly, I have to thank everyone for popping by my place last week, leaving such wonderful encouraging comments. I love visitors and really enjoy you're feedback.
So a big thank you to you all and my apologies if I didn't get to you're desk!
Having said that it's because of you that I've bitten the bullet and I'm trying to print my work.
What a steep learning curve that is turning out to be ~ well its virtually a horizontal hike never mind a steep curve!
So today isn't really my desk as such but what's been produced on it.....
I haven't posted anything since last Sunday because I had to keep a secret from a friend.
A good secret because its her birthday today and I'm hopefully handing over her present as you read this, with a glass of bubbly in my hand ;D
I couldn't write any details beforehand because she's been with me and my blog journey since day one, so I know she'd have seen it and that would have spoilt the surprise....so this is for her...

(It was difficult to photograph due to reflections and obviously Neesie Natters isn't plastered across
the original but then I know you'd know that ;D)

In Australia magpies are very popular. I have to explain that they are very different from the UK kind.
If you would like to know a little about them then see here
It even has a link so that you can  hear their unusual chorkling.
My friend has a family of four calling every day, to be hand fed tasty juicy morsels.
But I couldn't just draw one magpie (remember the rhyme 1 for sorry?...hence I drew another in the tree ~ 2 for joy) I remember this rhyme so well from my younger days of watching the tv programme 'Magpie' but when I recited the rhyme to my son he thought I'd flipper (his word) gone mad.
I'm trying to keep my entry brief today...and that's a major effort for me, so if you are wondering what I am going on about visiting desks, pop over to the lovely Julia and join in...there's so much talent out there, plus if you're a sticky beak nosey parker like me, then you'll love snooping around everyone's desk.
Have fun, smile and pass on some thoughtful act (make someone's day) :D

Don't you just LOVE doing Zentangles.I have experimented with stencilling over them with Distress inks..hmmm gives another dimension. I have just bought some Pan Pastels. They are FAB!!Such fun. They work well with stencils too.A couple of posts back I have posted a video and link to demo's.

    1. Thanks Judy...I put him up on my wall just to see how it looked and he looked very much at home, so I'll have to do another now for myself.
I do love zentangles because I find I can do them almost anywhere. I've got to get back to silk painting at some stage but that involves a lot of equipment.
I like the sound of those Pan Pastels, oh and the stencils...there's so much out there and I've got so much to learn.
Baking has gone to the back burner!
I'll take a peek at your video later today...I'm away to girlie lunch!
Thanks for popping by ~ Have a great WOYWW whenever it starts! ;D

  2. Your magpie is just beautiful, you have done so much work on his wings. You have even captured the cheekiness in his eyes. I have a family of magpies and the baby taps on the kitchen window asking for his morning piece of sliced cheese. I feed it to my chooks and the magpies discovered it too and now they want it all the time.
You have one very lucky friend.

    1. Hi Von,
I've contacted my friend to say I can't meet up with her this morning due to appointments but I'll be there to surprise her...just hope she doesn't get time to log on this morning and I've spoilt it!
The magpies certainly know how to work the system and where to find all the tastiest titbits! ;D
I didn't realise they like cheese. I think my friend feeds them roo minced meat...not bad eh?
No wonder they keep coming to call :D
Have a wonderful WOYWW and I'll catch up later...bye for now X

I think she did like it...he's hanging up on her wall already.
The surprise lunch ran so smoothly ~ she was completely taken aback that three people who had never met all came together to honour her birthday.
I'm now needing to do another picture because I can just see the hook on my wall where he sat last night and looked very at home.
Have a great WOYWW and I'll pop over to your place later ;D

I know what you mean about not being sure about the result because I'm having difficulty with a kangeroo design at the moment...it's just not happening, so for now it's back to the drawing board!
Thanks for popping over to my place and leaving such a lovely comment. I really appreciate it ;D

  10. I love your post this week Neesie, you always manage to make me smile. Your picture is just amaZing, stunning, beautiful and any other adjective you care to mention would apply to your fabulous picture. I love that rhyme too but here in the UK they are generally though to be bad luck unless you say 'I salute you Mr Magpie', if you see one on it['s own - so I do and then chastise myself for being silly! I think you will make you friend very happy indeed, and not just for the champagne - lol. Anne x #9

I'm glad I make you smile because that's something I always say "a smile costs nothing but can mean the world to someone else"!

When I started to write this blog it was one of my priorities to always be positive and to pass on a feel good factor for the few minutes whilst people visit :D

It's surprising how superstitions can creep into our behaviour because I never walk under a ladder, and won't have an open umbrella in the house! I could write lists of all the other one's but I'm aware its WOYWW and you'll need to get snooping ;D
Have fun and thanks for popping by my place...it's always great to see you.

  15. Beautiful beautiful magpie! Your friend will L O V E it! I had never heard the magpie rhyme though - is it like the rhyme for crows? "one for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy, etc." Anyhow, funny how we never forget those kind of things - and then our kids think we're crazy :)

    1. It's the same rhyme Kimmie...how funny is that!
I think Canada feel the same about their crows as Australia does they're magpies.
That's why I couldn't have just one magpie I had to put another in the picture ~ so he's sitting in the tree ;D
I just wish I could remember more important things like where I've left my keys or glasses!

Other than when they have their babies (watch out for dive bombing leathal weapons ~ namely their beaks...so stay away from my nest!) they appear to be quite tame.
I took photos yesterday of my friend hand feeding her magpies.

I can't imagine anyone hand feeding a UK magpie even though they are so much smaller and don't have that huge sharp beak!

As for our feline friends ...we have so many ...and each time one dies ...or goes to Rainbow Bridge as someone once described it .... it hurts. If I can be with them I am... I worry that one day we will loose one that goes out, to a car. I never let them go too soon as I love to treat them but I never let them be in pain ...us cat lovers know when. 25. Oh wow wow wow Neesie, that is absolutely FABULOUS...... If you've had any time to explore my blog you will know I adore zentangles... I haven't done any for a few weeks as busy with other things. I know what you mean about not being able to visit everyone's desks - I agree, I'd love to too but it's a huge commitment of time. As to whether I sleep, well, yes, I do, but at very odd hours! Unfortunately a lot of my waking time is not spent in my ARTHaven creating because much of the time I'm not well enough, but I do spend quite a lot of time online! Even so, I don't manage even to keep up with the blogs I follow, these days. Thanks for taking the time to read the M.E. awareness day post - that's important!

We had a great day at the show but it rained quite a bit. I'm exhausted after our long day out but it was worth it. Early birthday treat for my hubby! I'm so looking foward to giving him his Saxon Hoard card on Saturday!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

    1. Hi Shoshi,
I didn't expect you to reply especially after the show today, so thank you for that. What a pity about the weather but then it is the UK, so I suppose we shouldn't be surprised ;D

Thanks for your lovely comments about my work. I know that you're a zentangler too so it's always interesting to hear other people's views especially when they're an expert!
This week it's been my mission to try and have the designs printed into cards...up hill steep learning curve I'm afraid, but I have some samples now and I'm thrilled with the results.
I may even show them at some stage....

But I am in need of help with all this visiting because I can't do things on my own blog or read anyone's other posts...even though I love to snoop at the desks, there's so much more to see.
Now I realise what everyone was saying when I first started with WOYWW...that its addictive!
I think I'm going to have to come up with a plan. So many desks and then read other posts from that blog...well I'll give it a go ;D
Have a great time celebrating you hubby's birthday ~ I think he's going to love his card. Have fun! :D
