Artists Play Room...Make Me Laugh!

I now realise when someone asks 'Make them laugh' it's an incredibly difficult thing to do.
But that's just what Jenn at the Artist Play Room decided for this week's theme...what a challenge!
Don't get me wrong...I can have my funny moments and sometimes I don't even know I'm being funny but this week I had trouble.
Being funny on demand is a special talent and I now have a profound respect for comedian's.
I've got so many stories and tales that I'd love to share with you and I'm sure they'd have you in stitches like the time my brother chaperoned my mother into the sea to protect her from the terrors that lurk within (as you can guess she wasn't exactly a water baby or an Ester Williams)....but she trusted her only son and gripped his hand...and what happened?....he lost her when the first wave hit!
She emerged a few minutes later crawling along the sea bed like a dredger or some creature from the deep...(children ran from the beach screaming)...her newly set hair hanging over her eyes with embellishments of seaweed...her bikini top virtually down by her knees with the weight of sand, grit, seashells and crustations...she later confessed that she'd never had her top so full!!!
In the brief few seconds that my brother lost her hand, he was nearly hysterical shouting out  "I've lost my mother...I can't believe I've lost her!"
We do have photographic evidence of this event (someone had the foresight to grab the camers...no not me this time)....and if only I could have waded through the boxes of photo's in time for the challenge, I would have entered it....I'm sure you would have had a titter. (whoops no pun intended ;D)

Or there was the time when as an expat attending one of the gazillions of parties one event springs to mind...the time when a couple were leaving the country and we had a pool party. Not at our house I hasten to add but in an apartment complex and we (the royal we that is) thought it was a good idea to launch the couple off into their new life...but we took it literally and launched them in a cast iron bath into the deep end of the pool! Glug....glug...glug!
By now I hope you're in fits of laughter as I let you move onto my entry....
Yeah...someone pinched my week AGAIN!!!!

So maybe one day soon I'll let you see photos and hear what I would have liked to enter but for now I thought I'd pay homage to our host!
This is for you Jenn and I hope at least it makes you smile if nothing else! :D

As the cartoon indicates...Jenn is a Canadian who is a whizz on the computer and not afraid to use it!
She is generous with her time and energy to a fault and encourages and inspires everyone's artwork by hosting the Artist's Play Room. She's also the Canadian contributing Editor of Featuring Magazine. How cool is that?
Her blog is called 'Just Add Water Silly' hence the water bottle in the cartoon...
Oh and my 'tangled Moose antlers are just a little signature.

Well that's me done for today ~ It's Friday and so...whoohoo...let the weekend commence!
There's snow in the hills here ...can you imagine Australia having snow, it still strikes me as odd...I know it's my fault I should never have said spring was on it's way.... ;D
Enjoy your Friday and try to make someone laugh...it's not easy but so good to do

  2. What wonderfully funny stories Neesie - yes I was laughing aloud at the image of your poor mother almost becoming a man-made reef, lmao!
I love your tribute to Jenn and the tangled antlers are superb!
I see your night has drawn in, 7:46pm and not too chilly +7c. Quite cloudy too, so no frost or snow either. We have rain today, but I don't mind as the gardens need it - we have had some beautiful sunny weather over the past week and just right for my hubby's summer hols from work. He returns on Monday and school begins for my 5year old on Tuesday (boo-hoo)
    Have a wonderful weekend :0) x

    1. Oh it was so funny...my brother and I often laugh even now when we talk about it! I really must find those photos.

Thanks for your lovely comments and I always love how you check out what weather we're having here. The forecast was predicted to be really bad for today...but thankfully it hasn't materialised.
It's been really wet recently, so I am looking forward to the warmer, sunnier weather.
It's good to hear that your gardens are having a good drink!

My hubby has just booked 6 weeks off from work ~ his first holiday for two years and we plan to travel and see more of Oz, so they'll be lots of travel posts coming up.
Have a fantastic Friday and enjoy your weekend ;D

This is perfect as it sure made me laugh and I know Jenn will laugh too.

If I find the photos I'll post them because you'd laugh even more.
I only thought about the design at 4.30am this morning...for some reason that's the time that these things come into my head!!!
It's no wonder I look like I do...cos I sure don't get enough beauty sleep!
Have a wonderful weekend...whatever you get up to. Enjoy :D

  7. Hahaha! What I want to know is: how did they get the cast iron tub OUT of the pool again? I love your fun celebration of Jenn - great take on the prompt. And PS: I like Jamie Oliver too! Yeah for the food revolution!

    1. I have no idea and if anyone asks Minnemie...I know nothing!!!!

The apartment complex was being renovated at the time so I hope the pool was going to be retiled too. Well...the bath was just sitting there asking for trouble! ;D

Jamie Oliver is a star in everyway. I've got all his recipe books by the way...I love his relaxed way of cooking and he's a genuine good guy. Plus he's the one that made me husband decide that it was okay to have a go at cooking! It didn't have to be beautifully presented etc just so long as it tasted good! :D

Have a wonderful weekend ~ enjoy no matter what you get up to xoxo

  9. You are so right, it's difficut to be funny on demand! I didn't even attempt to anything for the challenge, but the story of your mom coming out from her spin in the ocean had me laughing! You achieved funny, albeit at your mom's expense! oh dear! Loved the little cartoon too! waving hi from the sandy beaches of Florida ;0

I'm glad you liked the post. Don't worry my Mum would be the first to be hysterically laughing whenever we revisited that story...I think she was just so happy to live to tell the tale!

Waving 'Hi' from a soggy wet Downunder!!! :$
Have a wonderful weekend whatever you get up to xox

  10. I really like the whimsy in your cartoon, especially the moose's expression. However, the story of your poor Mother's mishap after your brother accidentally let go of her hand had me laughing hysterically. Bless her heart! I'm glad she lived to joke about it. Blessings!

  11. A special post this week. I love all the little personal touches. Really cool plane flying in to announce the challenge, Maple Leaf symbol/flag, water, brush, computer and tangles, too! You got everything in there for the challenge and gave us a peak at your family mermaid! I bet your brother was in a panic at first! Did your Mom every go back in the ocean, now that the "ice" was broken? Wishing you a good week from Chicago, IL. area!

    1. Hi Gloria,
Thanks for a lovely comment...I think I covered most things but I just couldn't come up with something for the Blogging 101.
Well time was working against me as I only came up with all the other various parts of the design at 4.3Oam on Friday morning...cutting it a little fine I know...but I got there...phewph!
I think we did make my Mum dip her toes again after that, just like horseriding or cycling when you fall off...just get right back up there.
I realised that I'd put Ester Williams name in the post and probably the majority of readers might not ever have heard of her...it was just my Mum always used her name when water was ever mentioned.
Have a wonderful week in Chicago ~ have fun and laugh lots! ;D

    1. Cleaning? What's that? :$
Yeah...it's so hard to try to be funny on demand. Somehow it just doesn't work the same when it's forced.
I had lots of ideas but that was before I saw Vonny's entry...then I went to peices ~ quite literally with giggles. :D
I've decided not to look in future until I post mine! xoxo
